In a dramatic escalation of political tensions in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister Atishi has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as a tool to target and silence opposition, specifically Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Atishi’s comments came amidst a series of ED raids on the residences of several AAP leaders, including the Chief Minister’s Personal Secretary, marking a significant intensification in the scrutiny AAP faces from central agencies.

According to Atishi, the ED’s actions, which included confiscating two Gmail account downloads and three mobile phones from the Chief Minister’s Personal Secretary and his family, are part of a broader campaign led by the BJP and Prime Minister Modi to “finish” Arvind Kejriwal.

She suggests that these measures are being taken without any established case or ECIR (Enforcement Case Information Report), implying that the raids are politically motivated rather than based on solid legal grounds.

Atishi’s remarks underscore the perception among AAP members that the ED’s investigations are aimed at discrediting and undermining their party’s leadership, with Kejriwal being the prime target.

The AAP minister’s bold claim that “PM Modi knows that if there is one leader who can challenge and raise his voice against him, it is Arvind Kejriwal,” highlights the deepening rift between the central government and the Delhi administration, reflecting the charged atmosphere of Indian politics.

The conflict has reached a point where the ED is considering legal action against Atishi for her accusations, particularly her claims about the deletion of CCTV footage and audio recordings, which the agency categorically denies.
